I never use vegetable oils or margarine in Mischa’s Kitchen. The reason why is these are artificially produced fats harmful to the body. You may have heard of hydrogenated oils, trans fats, and polyunsaturated fats. Fats from soy, genetically modified, high pesticides crops, and very chemically altered. Bad fat. This would be vegetable oils. So I avoid them. There are many other fats that do lovely things for us. Monounsaturated, omega 3 fatty acids, medium chain triglycerides. These fats promote healthy digestion, give us energy boosts, help us feel satiated, and reduce inflammation. Different fats offer different benefits but most health nutritionists recommend flax oil, MCT oil, coconut oil, olive oil, and avocado oil.
If you’re cooking, swap out avocado oil for your vegetable oil. It’s a good natural monounsaturated (non-hydrogenated) choice. It has a high burn temperature and is healthy to cook with. Olive oil isn’t as healthy at high temperatures however it taste marvelous in salad dressings. Sometimes I spread coconut oil on my toast or use it to cook seafood. It has a sweet pleasant flavor to me. Flax oil is loaded with anti-inflammatory omega 3 so I put it in my shakes. It must not be heated. MCT oil goes with my breakfast too because it makes me feel alert and gives me an energy boost.
Why would I eat hydrogenated vegetable oil when I can have these amazing benefits??
